What is English Language Support at Aquinas?

The English as a Second Language Specialist provides writing assistance to international and domestic students who speak other languages as their first language and are improving their English writing skills as they write academic papers.

ESL students may have questions about other course work or non-academic writing. Any student interested in more information about our ESL support is welcome to set an appointment to find out more.

Schedule an Appointment

ESL students are encouraged to schedule face-to-face appointments to

  • discuss various steps in the writing process, including:
    • brainstorming
    • outlining
    • proofreading drafts for grammar usage issues, such as word form or subject-verb agreement errors.
  • discuss proper usage of in-text citations aligned with course requirements
  • discuss academic writing conventions
  • discuss professor expectations for writing assignments as detailed in the course syllabus.

No, Aquinas College does not offer English as a Second Language courses at this time. However, the institution offers courses in English for enrolled undergraduate students to prepare them for writing thematic research papers in their college classes.
